Who This Is For
This service is designed for fleets and yards running 53‑ft trailers with eligible straight‑rib tires. If your tires meet all five criteria below, they qualify for on‑wheel regrooving.
Eligibility (must meet all five)
- ✓53‑ft trailer tires only (trailer axles — no steer or drive)
- ✓Straight‑rib tread patterns only
- ✓Manufacturer‑marked as REGROOVABLE (check the sidewall)
- ✓Never previously regrooved
- ✓Passes pre‑inspection — no casing, sidewall, or belt damage
Final eligibility is confirmed during on‑site pre‑inspection. Ineligible tires are skipped at no charge.
How the On‑Wheel Process Works
No wheel removal. No shop visit. No multi‑day turnaround. The trailer stays parked — we bring the equipment to your yard.
Pre‑inspection
Every tire is checked for manufacturer REGROOVABLE marking, straight‑rib pattern, casing integrity, sidewall condition, and belt health. Ineligible tires are skipped and documented — you only pay for tires we actually service.
Controlled, depth‑limited cut
Our gantry system cuts new grooves following the original straight‑rib pattern. A mechanical depth limiter physically prevents cutting deeper than 3 mm — maintaining a safety buffer above the steel belts. This is a hard stop, not a software setting.
Post‑measurement + documentation
After service, tread depth is measured and recorded. You receive a paper depth report with before/after readings. Each tire is stamped to prevent double‑service.
Total time per trailer: approximately 20 minutes (8 tires). A 2‑trailer pilot takes about 45–60 minutes.

Why Fleets Use On-Wheel Regrooving
Compliance
Stay within safe, legal tread depth
Regrooving restores tread depth on eligible tires, helping your fleet maintain DOT/CSA compliance. Every tire is pre-inspected and documented with a paper depth report — proof you can keep on file for inspections.
Cost
Defer replacement 6–8 months
At $80/tire vs. $300–$800 for replacement, regrooving extends tire life by 30–35% (~50,000 km). That defers the replacement decision by 6–8 months per trailer, depending on utilization. Casing value is preserved for future retreading.
Uptime
No wheel removal, no shop visit
Service happens on-wheel, in your yard. Eight tires per trailer in ~20 minutes. No scheduling around shop availability, no multi-day turnaround, no trailer downtime beyond the service window.
Cost Comparison
| Regrooving | Retreading | Replacement | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost/tire | $80 | $200–$400 | $300–$800 |
| Wheel removal | No | Yes | Yes |
| Time/trailer | ~20 min | Days | Hours–Days |
| Life extension | 30–35% | 50–60% | Full new tire |
